I studied Russian, film, and journalism at university, and now I'm doing an Honours degree in film. I have a special interest in science fiction, as well as film and television history. I'm also interested (personally and professionally) in privacy and surveillance, nuclear weapons / power (particularly in relation to popular culture), and technology.

I love film noir and horror movies, music and literature, and theoretically video games, although sometimes I have trouble playing them... I own a Gameboy Advance but I have yet to complete a game on that console!

On this site, I write a lot about art that I'm currently enjoying: music, movies, television, books. Narrative stuff is usually science fiction or horror, although I also enjoy other kinds of stories! I listen to lots of music, but mostly goth, electronic (vaporwave and synthwave mostly), or metal.

I also collect older / "obsolete" media formats and technology. I have a large collection of DVDs and CDs, some cassette tapes, and a LaserDisc! I'd love to get more of those in future, along with a record player (I have some LPs but nothing to play them on!). I like retro games, although I don't own a Dreamcast or a Gamecube or anything.

I love old cameras too - I've got a Pentax SLR, a Canon Autoboy which is basically a glorified point-and-shoot, and a tiny little 110 format Ansco Pixie. I'm still learning how to shoot film properly, and I don't have space to develop it myself, so it's always a gamble and a journey with every roll!
